COMPUTATION STRUCTURES

Description

6.004 provides an introduction to the engineering of digital methods. Beginning with MOS transistors, the course develops a sequence of constructing blocks — logic gates, combinational and sequential circuits, finite-state machines, computer systems and at last full methods. Each {hardware} and software program mechanisms are explored via a sequence of design examples.

6.004 is required materials for any EECS undergraduate who needs to grasp (and finally design) digital methods. grasp of the fabric is important for later programs in digital design, pc structure and methods. The issue units and lab workouts are meant to present college students “hands-on” expertise in designing digital methods; every scholar completes a gate-level design for a lowered instruction set pc (RISC) processor in the course of the semester.
